How to use the Pressure Converter
- Enter the value you want to convert.
- Choose the unit you are converting from.
- Choose the unit you are converting to (Pa, kPa, bar, PSI, atm or mmHg).
- The result updates instantly; use swap to reverse the direction.
Conversion factors
1 bar = 100 kPa = 14.504 PSI | 1 atm = 101.325 kPa = 14.696 PSI = 760 mmHg | 1 PSI = 6.895 kPa
The pascal (Pa) is the SI unit: one newton of force per square metre.
Worked example
Tyre pressure example
32 PSI = 220.6 kPa = 2.21 bar
35 PSI = 241.3 kPa = 2.41 bar
Normal blood pressure 120 mmHg ≈ 16.0 kPa
Which unit should I use?
Car and bike tyre pressure is usually printed in PSI and bar on the door sticker or tyre sidewall. Weather reports use hPa (hectopascal, equal to millibar). Blood pressure is always given in mmHg. Engineering drawings and hydraulic equipment often use bar or MPa, while scientific work uses pascals.
Tips for accurate results
- Check tyre pressure when tyres are cold for an accurate reading.
- 1 hPa = 100 Pa = 0.1 kPa.
- Gauge pressure (PSIg) excludes atmospheric pressure; absolute pressure includes it.
